Formal identification has not yet taken place, but Louise's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Cops have said they are treating the death as suspicious as they continue to investigate the circumstances.

Detective Chief Superintendent Scott Mackechnie said: "Today officers located a body in an area of woodland in Havant Thicket.

"We know that news of this discovery will be very upsetting for the community, so I want to reassure you that we will be working around the clock to establish what has happened."

GRIM FIND

Detectives managed to trace her mobile phone to a skate park before it was switched off two hours later.

Louise was due to return home to spend the weekend with her boyfriend, who had come over to stay.

Volunteers from the Isle of Wight Search and Rescue team have also joined the hunt in Hampshire, Berkshire, Sussex and Surrey.

In an appeal to find Louise, police said: "If you were out celebrating or filming on VE Day in Leigh Park, we ask you to please take a look back over your footage to see if you captured Louise walking by.

"Perhaps you drove through the area on VE Day and saw someone matching Louise's description, or caught her on Dash Cam.

"We are still treating this as a missing person investigation, and our priority is to find Louise and make sure she is safe.

"Louise, if you are reading this, please call us and let us know you are OK. We just want to know that you are safe."
