"I am sorry I have not been able to reply to them individually, as I am sure you will understand that I am focusing on my family and Derek right now."

She went on: "In quieter moments I am reading all of your messages and they are so comforting and wonderful to read."

Kate's husband Derek was taken into hospital on April 1, where he tested positive for Covid-19, and still remains in intensive care.

On April 16, Kate revealed on her Instagram account that Derek was still in a "deeply critical condition".

She added: "He is still here, which means there is hope."

Earlier this month Kate was forced to spend her first birthday without her husband by her side in 16 years.

She said at the time: "So yesterday was always going to be a tough one – 1st birthday in 16 years without Derek – so for the kids & I, his absence was very present.

"But we resolved to do what I think we are all having to do at the moment aren't we – treasure & be grateful for the love around us – however distanced we are from it."
