IN life there will always be winners and losers – and lockdown is no exception. Since coronavirus struck the nation has been adapting to necessary changes to everyday life.

Some well-known figures have risen to the challenge to do their bit during the crisis . . . while the reputations of others have certainly taken a hit as a result of their antics during the pandemic. Emma Pietras brings you the covid heroes and villains.

The Losers


Sitting naked in a bath strewn with rose petals in one of her many mansions, the 61-year-old singer showed how out-of-touch she is by telling fans: "Covid is the great equaliser."

Ant Middleton

Hard man Ant told people to "calm the f*** down" about the coronavirus.

In a post on Instagram, the 39-year-old star of SAS: Who Dares Wins said: "Covid-19 doesn't bother me. Why? Because I'm strong and able." He apologised and deleted his comments.

Trinny Woodall

Putting a twist on the title of her old TV show What Not To Wear, the 56-year-old fashion expert's partner Charles Saatchi wandered in naked while she live-streamed a beauty video.

Kyle Walker

Man City's Kyle hosted a sex party with a pal and two call girls, and later visited his parents in Sheffield.

The 30-year-old England star then had the cheek to complain of "harassment" over reports of his two breaches of lockdown rules.

Steph McGovern

Telly journalist Steph, 37, was poached from the BBC to present a new daily live show on Channel 4.

Lockdown meant it came from her home. Only 234,000 watched and it lasted just six weeks after neighbours complained filming was causing a disturbance.

Gal Gadot

Wonder Woman actress Gal, 35, assembled a host of famous names on social media to sing John Lennon's Imagine – but it looked like her celeb pals were just trying to stay in the limelight.

Ricky Gervais wasn't happy. He said: "It was an awful rendition."

Jack Grealish

He launched a video appeal telling everyone to stay at home – then the 24-year-old Aston Villa skipper crashed his Range Rover into two parked cars after visiting a friend.

Grealish apologised the next day in a grovelling video posted to Twitter and he was fined £150,000 by his club.

Olly Murs

With no one to sing to, pop star Olly, 35, has taken to playing pranks on girlfriend Amelia Tank, 27.

But he took things a step too far when, last month, he sat with his bits inside a Pringles can for her to discover. He had to say sorry to horrified fans.

While Covid-19 victims died, the 35-year-old and the Duchess of Sussex, 38, headed off to LA moaning about privacy and deciding not to speak to the most-read newpapers in Britain.

The PM's top adviser, 48, flouted lockdown rules by travelling hundreds of miles to stay in County Durham.

The Winners

Leigh-Anne Pinnock

The Little Mix singer, 28, melted fans' hearts after revealing footballer Andre Gray, also 28, proposed as they celebrated their fourth anniversary in lockdown.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor

THE singer donned sequins and heels to perform nightly in her kitchen. Fans loved the renditions of Take Me Home ­– with lyrics changed to "stay at home" – and other big hits.

The 41-year-old's sons Sonny, 16, Kit, 11, Ray, eight, Jesse, five, and 16-month-old Mickey joined in.

Amanda Holden

The BGT judge kept us entertained with pictures of her mowing the lawn in her wedding dress and putting out the bins in a ballgown.

Prince William, Kate and family

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have carried out public engagements via Zoom and taken the time to speak to the children of key workers.

The couple also led Clap For Carers with Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, five, and two-year-old Prince Louis.

David Birtwhistle

With no Love Island on TV, Too Hot To Handle teased the nation with sun, sand and. . . no sex.

The Netflix dating show banned intimate touching, which meant contestants including 30-year-old Brit David, connected on a deeper level and emerged global stars.

Matt Lucas

Funnyman Matt's song Baked Potato – updated with lyrics about avoiding coronavirus – raised cash for Feed NHS.

Matt, 46, also hosted Channel 4's lockdown show Reasons To Be Cheerful and is set to revive Little Britain.

By walking 100 laps of the garden at his Bedfordshire home in April, the former British Army office raised more than £32million for NHS charities.

Lockdown TV hit Normal People made overnight stars of Paul, 24, and Daisy, 22.

There are even social media fan accounts dedicated to the chain Paul wears in the explicit BBC3 drama.
